Piuray Lake Sunrise Paddle and Breakfast Picnic
Wake up before dawn to drive out from Cusco to the quiet, glassy waters of Piuray Lake, and glide across the still surface on a private paddle board or kayak as the first golden light spills over the surrounding Andes peaks.
This half-day exclusive leisure experience wraps you in total calm, with no crowds, no rushed schedules, and a curated hot breakfast picnic laid out on a private lakeshore terrace right after your paddle. It’s the perfect slow, magical morning to soak in the soft high-altitude light, far from the noise of Cusco’s tourist streets.
ALL - INCLUSIVE NARRATIVE EXPERIENCE
per person based on double occupancy
This fully private half-day experience is built entirely around the quiet magic of Piuray Lake at sunrise, a hidden high altitude water body tucked 3,400m up in the Sacred Valley, almost untouched by mass tourism. We leave Cusco in your dedicated private vehicle in the dark pre-dawn hours, arriving at the lake just as the first faint pink hues paint the sky.
Your local guide will help you get settled on your stable, premium paddle board or kayak, and you can glide slowly across the mirror-smooth water, watching the sun creep over the snow-dusted peaks and turn the lake surface to gold. There’s no set route, no time limit on the water you can drift to the far reed beds to spot wild Andean ducks, or simply float still and listen to the total silence of the morning.
When you finish your paddle, our team will have a warm, gourmet breakfast picnic waiting for you on a private, exclusive lakeshore spot, draped in soft handwoven textiles, with hot coca tea, fresh local pastries, and seasonal Andean fruits. The whole experience unfolds at your own gentle pace, for a perfect, unforgettable morning escape.
Itinerary
5:30 AM – Pre-Dawn Hotel Pickup in Cusco
Our private driver meets you right outside your accommodation, with warm blankets and thermoses of pre-heated coca tea for the quiet early drive out to Piuray Lake. We leave exactly when you are ready, no shared meeting points to wait for.
6:30 AM – Arrive at Piuray Lake
We pull up to the private lakeshore access point, just as the first pale pink light starts to tint the sky over the Andes peaks. Your guide will walk you through simple, easy paddle safety instructions, and help you get settled on your stable, premium board or kayak.
6:45 AM – Sunrise Paddle on the Lake
You glide out onto the completely still, glassy water, drifting slowly as the sun crests over the mountains, painting the entire lake surface in warm gold. You can stop to float and watch wild Andean ducks glide past, or take photos of the perfect mirror reflections of the peaks in the water.
8:30 AM – Private Breakfast Picnic on the Lakeshore
When you paddle back to shore, you will find your exclusive picnic spot laid out on a sun-warmed stone terrace, lined with handwoven Quechua textiles. The spread includes hot Peruvian coffee, fresh croissants with local wild honey, heirloom Andean fruit platters, and warm quinoa porridge all made that morning with ingredients sourced from nearby Sacred Valley farms.
10:30 AM – Optional Short Local Stop
If you choose, we can make a quick 20-minute stop at a nearby small traditional Quechua bakery to try fresh baked empanadas, before heading back to Cusco.
11:00 AM – Return to Cusco
We drive you directly back to your hotel, with plenty of time left in the day for you to rest or explore Cusco at your leisure.
