This one-day adventure from Cusco blends moderate mountain trekking, unobstructed views of snow-capped Andean peaks, and a slow, delicious moment to savor the landscape without rushing. Perfect for couples, small friend groups, or travelers who want to connect deeply with the Andes while enjoying thoughtful, premium touches along the way.
ALL - INCLUSIVE NARRATIVE EXPERIENCE
per person based on double occupancy
This exclusive 1-day private tour takes you far beyond the standard Humantay Lake experience. We leave Cusco early in a comfortable private vehicle, winding through traditional Quechua villages like Limatambo and Mollepata before reaching the trailhead at Soraypampa.
Your personal bilingual guide will walk you at your own pace up the 90-minute mountain path, pointing out local wild orchids, native bird species, and sharing little-known stories about Andean mountain traditions along the way. When you arrive at the 4,200m-high lagoon, you won’t just snap photos and turn around our team will have set up a cozy, scenic picnic spot with fresh Andean ingredients, local cheeses, artisanal snacks, and warm herbal drinks so you can sit back, breathe the thin mountain air, and watch the snow peaks reflect perfectly in the bright turquoise water.
There’s no strict schedule, no waiting for other group members, and every detail is adjusted to match your energy level and what you want to get out of the day.
Itinerary
4:30 AM – Hotel Pick-Up
Our private driver will meet you right outside your Cusco accommodation with a warm welcome, cold bottled water, and extra blankets for the early morning ride. No rushing to meet other people at shared meeting points — we leave exactly when you’re ready.
6:30 AM – Breakfast in Mollepata
We drive 2 hours through rolling Andean valleys to the small town of Mollepata, where you’ll sit down for a fresh, homemade local breakfast: quinoa porridge, freshly baked bread, eggs to order, and coca tea to gently prepare your body for the day’s hike.
8:00 AM – Drive to Soraypampa Trailhead
A 45-minute scenic drive takes you past cloud forest edges and open mountain meadows, with stops along the way if you want to pull over and photograph distant views of Salkantay Glacier.
8:45 AM – Private Hike to Humantay Lake
Your personal guide leads you up the trail at your pace, pausing to point out tiny wild flowers, show you how local farmers use native plants, and share stories about the ancient Andean respect for the mountains. There are no timers, no pressure to keep up with a crowd.
10:30 AM – Arrival + Gourmet Picnic at the Lagoon
When you reach the shore of Humantay Lake, you’ll find our pre-set picnic spot laid out with soft blankets, reusable plates, and a spread of seasonal Andean fruits, artisanal cheeses from local farms, roasted quinoa salads, homemade empanadas, warm canelazo, and a small bottle of sparkling Peruvian cider to toast the view. You can eat slowly, walk around the lagoon, or just sit and watch the light change on the turquoise water for as long as you like.
12:30 PM – Optional Short Exploration Time
If you feel up to it, your guide can take you on a quick easy walk to a higher nearby viewpoint for unobstructed panoramic photos of the lake and Humantay Mountain glacier. If you’d rather stay and relax at the picnic spot, that’s completely fine too.
2:00 PM – Hike Back to Soraypampa
We take the downhill trail slowly, stopping to rest and chat about your favorite moments from the day before meeting our private driver back at the parking area.
3:30 PM – Lunch at a Local Family Restaurant
On the drive back to Cusco, we stop at a cozy family-run spot in the countryside for a warm, traditional lunch of Andean stew or grilled trout, made with ingredients grown right in the surrounding fields.
5:30 PM – Return to Cusco
We drive you back to your hotel, arriving refreshed and full of photos, with plenty of time to rest after your day in the mountains.
